About Araria District

Araria is a district located in the northeastern part of Bihar, sharing its northern border with Nepal. The district is named after the English word “Area,” which was used by a British officer’s camp in the region and later transformed into Araria.

It is part of the Kosi–Seemanchal region, known for its fertile land and vibrant culture. The Kosi River flows near the district, making the soil rich for agriculture but also causing seasonal floods. Araria has developed into a key hub for trade, education, and agriculture in North Bihar.
